Tracking Hurricane Gustav
If you're dissatisfied with the level of reporting on Hurricane Gustav (like on-the-scene "reporters" who apparently don't know storm surges occur east of the eye), or if you're just a sucker for data, data, and more data, you'll love Weather Nerd.
Take a look, especially, at the offerings of the sidebar on the right. Want to see where the weather buoys are located in the Gulf of Mexico? (Doesn't everybody?!) Click on "Gulf buoy data." Click on each buoy to see current wind speed and other data for that location.
Incidentally, Weather Nerd is saying the storm has been hyped somewhat, has been a Category 2 hurricane for nearly 24 hours without being officially downgraded, and won't compare to Katrina. That's good news, if right.
[Note: The hurricane illustration is Hurricane Ivan, not Gustav.]
